Upon approval by the State Council, the National Immigration Administration has decided to further expand the implementation of the 144-hour transit visa exemption policy. The announcement is as follows:

As of the date of this announcement, the 144-hour transit visa exemption policy will be implemented at the Zhengzhou Airport in Henan. The permitted stay area is within the administrative region of Henan Province. The permitted stay area under the 144-hour transit visa exemption policy in Yunnan Province will be expanded from Kunming City to the administrative regions of 9 cities (prefectures) including Kunming, Lijiang, Yuxi, Pu'er, Chuxiong, Dali, Xishuangbanna, Honghe, and Wenshan. Three ports including Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport, Lijiang Sanyi International Airport, and Mohan Railway Port will be added as the applicable ports for the 144-hour transit visa exemption policy.

Citizens of 54 countries including Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Monaco, Russia, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine, Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Albania, Belarus, Norway, the United States, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Brunei, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar who hold valid international travel documents and connecting passenger tickets with confirmed dates and seats within 144 hours and are in transit via Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport to a third country (region) can stay within the administrative region of Henan Province for no more than 144 hours without applying for a visa. Those in transit via Yunnan to a third country (region) can enter or exit from any of the following ports: Kunming Changshui International Airport, Lijiang Sanyi International Airport, or Mohan Railway Port without applying for a visa and can stay within the scope of the 9 cities (prefectures) including Kunming, Lijiang, Yuxi, Pu'er, Chuxiong, Dali, Xishuangbanna, Honghe, and Wenshan in Yunnan for no more than 144 hours. (Those who are eligible for visa exemption under mutual visa exemption agreements signed with China or under China's unilateral visa exemption policies can follow the relevant regulations.) During the stay period, they can engage in short-term activities such as tourism, business, visiting relatives and friends. However, matters such as working, studying, and news reporting still require prior approval and obtaining the appropriate visa before entering the country.
