ECCRD news: in January 16, 2019, ECCRD held a symposium on strategic significance of cultural exchanges in “the Belt and Road” in Brussels. Many leaders of NGO and think tanks attended the forum.

 The historical background of "the Belt and Road" initiative proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping in 2103 is that the world is undergoing tremendous changes. The American century has ended and the world has entered the post American era. International order and global governance have entered the "transition period" and "adjustment period". World politics and economy have both entered the "new normal".

 George, Vice President of ECCRD, who just returned from Los Angeles，said: "The strength of America comes from the strength of culture. Similarly, cultural exchange is the most effective way for China's "the Belt and Road" initiative to win strong support from countries along the route. President Xi Jinping put forward that "the friendship between the nation and the people lies in mutual affinity", which is undoubtedly the core of the common feelings of the people.

  George proposed that ECCRD should set up a “research centre for Euro-Chinese development, the Belt and Road” in due course.
