The 12th Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) was held in Brussels, Belgium. The theme of this session is "Europe and Asia: global partners addressing global challenges".

The EU issued the Eurasian connectivity strategy, and “the Belt and Road" initiative has yielded fruitful results in promoting Eurasian connectivity in the past 5 years.

On the evening of October 16, local time, at the invitation of President Tusk of the European Council, President Juncker of the European Commission and Prime Minister Michel of the Kingdom of Belgium, Premier Li Keqiang of the State Council arrived at Brussels International Airport. He will attend the 12th Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) and pay a working visit to Belgium.

The China-Europe train has become an important symbol of connectivity in the Eurasian region. As of August this year, the China-Europe line had connected 43 cities in 15 European countries.

The Greek port of Piraeus is an important project for China and the EU to jointly build. In 2016, COSCO shipping group officially became the operator of Piraeus Port. Today, it has become one of Europe's biggest ports.

Last month, the European Commission and the European Union External Action Agency jointly issued a policy document on the Eurasian connectivity strategy, Connecting Europe and Asia - Ideas for the EU Strategy. The document positively evaluates the significance of Eurasian connectivity and its role in promoting Eurasian economic growth, advocates "comprehensive, sustainable and rule-based connectivity" and expresses its willingness to strengthen cooperation with Asian countries, including China.
