On November 18, “the orphan of Zhao”, directed by Chinese drama director Wang Xiaoying and translated by famous Greek translator Li Chenggui, was successfully premiered in Greek and Chinese bilingual at the Greek National Theatre with 700 seats. The play will have at least 11 performances in Greece.

On that night, the Secretary-General of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Palaskovoblos, the political counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Greece, Wang Qiang, the cultural commissioner, Wang Chao, and representatives of Greek political, commercial, cultural and media sectors watched the performance.

The first translate "the orphan of Zhao" was French missionary and Sinologist Joseph, who spent more than 30 years in China and was a genuine Chinese expert. Subsequently Sinologist Durhard edited and published it. Once it was published, immediately popular with readers and even affect the whole Europe, "the orphan of Zhao" was translated into English, German, Russian and so on. Multiple versions are disseminated。

Voltaire adapted "the orphan of Zhao" from 1753 to 1755 and staged it in Paris theatres on August 20, 1755. Then it made a sensation in the theatre, and many literary masters gave it high praise.
