The 2019 Chinese New Year Celebration Party Was Held In Athens

Athens time on February 22, 2019, the 2019 Chinese New Year celebration party was held in the Olympic Golden Hall of Divani Caravel Hotel in central Athens. President Matiatou hosted the meeting, Greek parliament speaker Nikoraos Voutsis, Chinese ambassador to Greece Zhang qiyue, and attended by more than 300 Greek politicians and representatives of overseas Chinese.

President Matiatou chaired the opening ceremony in Chinese. Chinese ambassador to Greece Zhang qiyue said in her speech that the highly stable development of China-Greece relations is in line with the world and the well-being of Europe and China in a complex and changeable world. In his speech, ambassador Zhang recalled that shortly after the founding of the People's Republic of China, there was still much to be done. President Matiadou visited Beijing more than 60 years ago to kick off the China-Greece friendship.

Ambassador Zhang spoke highly of President Matiadou's efforts and great contributions to China-Greece friendship over the past 60 years and more, and pushed for the establishment of the Greek-Chinese Friendship Association. She said that shortly afterwards, President Matiadou saw the prospect of China's development and insisted on promoting Chinese language education in Greece so far, "sowing the seeds of friendship for today's china-Greece cultural exchanges". She also said that I clearly remember that President Matiadou and many Greek friends present played an active role in the cooperation between COSCO, a Chinese enterprise, and Port Piraeus. Ambassador Zhang finally said that “the Belt and Road” cooperation has achieved fruitful results, and cultural exchanges and economic cooperation were more extensive.
