Confucius And Socrates Was Published In Beijing

To promote cultural exchanges between China and Greece, a new book "Confucius and Socrates" was released recently in Beijing.

The book were the main editors by Chen Haosu and Elena, and Ni Huiming(Greek) 。

The book, the compilation of papers were from the first, second and third Confucius and Socrates International Philosophy Symposium were jointly hold from the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) and the Euro-Chinese Centre for Research and Development (ECCRD).Foreign envoys to China attended the meeting.

Chen Haosu, former President of the CPAFFC and President of the European Union-China Association, Mr.Theodore Georgakelos, Greek ambassador to China, Ni Huiming, President of ECCRD and nearly 100 philosophers and foreign diplomats attended the press conference.

From 1998 to 2002, CPAFFC was in cooperation with ECCRD, and held three international symposium on classical Chinese and Greek philosophy in Athens, Beijing, Qufu and Delphi.

This edition of Confucius and Socrates is a compilation of papers from the three conferences. The collection contains 27 papers, 16 on the Chinese side and 11 on the Greek side, on the basic issues of classical philosophy and on the comparative study of the philosophical thoughts of Confucius and Socrates.
